Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector
We are developing our offer to support the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector in Surrey. The full offer is still in development and more will be available over the coming months to support you.
The information below will give you an idea of the support available.
There are over 5,700 voluntary, community and faith sector (VCFS) groups in Surrey. The VCFS is very important to Surrey County Council supporting us to deliver key services, meeting the needs of the residents of Surrey and often reaching those parts of the community that are the most vulnerable.
The County Council is aware that these are challenging times for the Voluntary, Community & Faith Sector and is looking for opportunities that can help and make a real difference to the sector.
One of these opportunities is sharing some of our training resources. Surrey County Council offers a broad range of training courses for its staff, designed for a variety of work areas and roles. Courses range from developing business skills to mandatory training needed for specialist roles. We would like to offer some of the places on these courses when they become available to the VCFS.
The council has a number of E-Learning modules which are open for you to use at any time. These can be accessed via the link below. We will continue to add new E-Learning modules to this page as they become available so do please check back to find out the latest modules.
Classroom based activity available
The council offers a number of classroom based courses for its employees. When there are spare spaces available on the courses below, we would like to make them available to colleagues from VCFS organisations. We will share details of any courses with spare capacity 8 weeks before the date of the course so anyone who is interested in attending can apply. We will confirm spaces on courses 2-4 weeks prior to the date of the course.
- First Aid
- Continuous Improvement
- Food Hygiene
- The council will offer courses in Procurement and Information Governance specifically for VCFS organisations.
- Management courses can be offered on a demand led basis. If you require courses in this area please email firstname.lastname@example.org outlining the topics you are interested in for your organisation.
For details of the above courses please click here
Bespoke training offer
There may be some occasions where the County Council could look to organise specific training for VCFS organisations, if there are a number of organisations who would benefit from training in a particular area. This could include training workshops delivered by council employees as part of employee volunteering or commissioning some bespoke training courses for VCFS organisations. If there is a particular area in which you feel your organisation would benefit from training then please email email@example.com and we will be in touch to explore this with you.

The County Council with the support of partners has created a platform linked directly to our Supply to Surrey website which is where we advertise our contracts. This should encourage better working opportunities between businesses and the VCFS in Surrey.
